The Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership, Inc. (ARPO) is a dedicated nonprofit organization founded in 1998 by concerned citizens in Indianapolis. ARPO aims to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership while addressing the alarming rates of animal euthanasia in the community. The organization works collaboratively with local animal-related businesses and advocates for the adoption of pets from foster homes rather than shelters, as it operates without a physical shelter. All adoptable animals, including a variety of dogs and cats, are cared for in temporary foster homes until they find permanent loving families.

ARPO offers a range of services, including pet adoption, fostering opportunities, and volunteer programs. Those interested can apply to adopt or foster pets, ensuring that every animal receives the care it needs.
