About Arrowhead Forge
Arrowhead Forge is a working blacksmith shop and school in Buffalo, Wyoming, at the base of the Big Horn Mountains. Operated by blacksmith David Osmundsen and Debbie Norman, the forge combines traditional craftsmanship with practical, hands-on instruction. David began forging in the 1970s and opened the Arrowhead Forge School of Blacksmithing in 2004. Its classes teach 19th-century blacksmithing skills, hand-forged ironwork, and related techniques to students with a range of experience. Courses run from one to four weeks, with small groups that allow for individual guidance.
Alongside teaching and demonstrations, David creates one-of-a-kind forged iron pieces for sale. The range includes cooking accessories, home furnishings, lighting, tomahawks, and frontier knives. Examples include hand-forged skewers and spatulas, as well as a spike tomahawk made with a forge-welded high-carbon steel bit. Some pieces combine iron with figured hardwood or locally sourced deer and elk antler. Items offered through the online store are the actual pieces pictured. The forge welcomes registered students during classes and visitors by appointment.
