ARS DIMICANDI

Ars Dimicandi is an Italian organization dedicated to researching, presenting, and sharing the culture of ancient gladiatorial combat. For more than 25 years, it has appeared at major historical festivals around the world, combining technically and athletically accomplished combat demonstrations with expert narration. Its performances help audiences engage with the ancient world and understand gladiatorial traditions beyond spectacle alone.

The organization’s activities extend across sport and public education, with offerings that include live events, exhibitions, publications, and educational presentations. Its work has reached cultural and academic institutions, including the Archaeological Museum of Bergamo and the University of Bergamo. Ars Dimicandi has also collaborated with the Colosseum Archaeological Park and the Gruppo Storico Romano on a scientific cooperation agreement focused on knowledge and promotion of ancient gladiatorial practice.
