Artbiogs is a dedicated online resource focused on British and Irish artists from the 20th century, providing a comprehensive database of artist biographies, art movements, organizations, and galleries. Founded by Geoff Hassell, an experienced art dealer and avid collector with over 45 years in the field, Artbiogs aggregates information from a multitude of reference materials to create a user-friendly repository for art enthusiasts, researchers, and collectors alike.

While Artbiogs does not conduct valuations or authenticate pieces, it offers invaluable summaries and insights that demystify the connections between artists, their societies, and their works. The platform includes references to both renowned and lesser-known figures alongside various influential galleries and movements, even extending to certain European art institutions that have impacted British art culture. With regular updates to incorporate new findings, Artbiogs aims to be a vital resource while inviting contributions and corrections from its community. Whether you are a dealer, student, or simply an art lover, Artbiogs serves as a meaningful gateway into the history and impact of British art.
