Art Has Heart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping high school students pursue higher education through college and university scholarships. Established by artists Amado and J.B. Peña, the foundation was incorporated in Texas in 1994 and received IRS nonprofit recognition in 1995. Since 1996, it has supported students seeking to continue their education, particularly in fields that are often underfunded.
The foundation reflects its founders’ belief in the value of the arts and in helping talented young people realize their ambitions. Amado Peña is a Southwest artist known for distinctive style and Mestizo imagery, while J.B. Peña is a weaver and business owner. A ten-member Board of Directors governs the organization. Its programs include scholarships, with information for applicants and testimonials featured on its website. The foundation also highlights fundraisers, endowments, and Boots & Bats, alongside news and current events. Visitors can subscribe to receive updates or donate to support its work.
