Artparking

Artparking Kunsthandel is an art and design destination in Altenberge, Germany, founded by Thomas Helmkamp. The business presents and offers for sale substantial stone sculptures by established artists from Zimbabwe, alongside sculptures created in its own art workshop and art objects representing styles from different countries. Its focus includes Zimbabwean stone sculpture, a contemporary art form known for abstract, pared-back and often cubist interpretations. The site also highlights newer generations of Zimbabwean artists, including women, whose work reimagines African mythology in modern, abstract ways.

Visitors can explore a garden exhibition with a permanent collection and a changing selection of approximately 35 to 40 sculptures by Zimbabwean artists, as well as other international artworks. The garden is described as having an Asian character, providing an outdoor setting for viewing the pieces. Artparking welcomes visitors even if they are not planning to buy, but asks them to arrange a visit in advance by telephone or email. Its website also features current offers and information about artists and artworks.
