Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the official funding and development organisation for the arts in Northern Ireland. Its mission is to place art at the heart of life, championing high-quality arts and cultural activity and helping bring it within everyone’s reach. The Council distributes public funding from the Department for Communities and National Lottery income to support artists, arts practitioners, arts organisations, venues and communities across the region.
Its funding opportunities serve both organisations and individuals, alongside guidance, advice and information about other sources of funding. The Council also supports the development of artists and arts organisations, promotes participation in the arts, and invests in projects that create opportunities for people from different backgrounds and communities to enjoy and take part in cultural life. Its work spans arts and cultural activity throughout Northern Ireland, bringing people and communities together through the arts.
In addition to funding and development, the Council shares resources, news and information, publishes strategy and annual reports, and maintains an art collection.
