Arts in the Heart of Augusta is a longstanding celebration of creativity, culture, and community in Augusta, Georgia. Managed by the Greater Augusta Arts Council, the festival began in 1982 when two grassroots events joined around the idea that art can bring people together. For more than four decades, it has welcomed visitors to experience the region’s cultural vitality and connections around the world.
Festival offerings include a Global Village representing countries through local cultural organizations and businesses, more than 130 fine arts and crafts vendors, and music, dance, theatre, and spoken-word performances across multiple stages. Families can explore interactive activities in a dedicated area, while food and cultural experiences add to the festival’s lively atmosphere. The event also provides opportunities for community participation through volunteering, sponsorship, and attendance.
Arts in the Heart is more than a weekend festival: it is the Greater Augusta Arts Council’s annual fundraiser. Its proceeds help sustain year-round work supporting artists, public art, education, the City Gallery, and member resources, contributing to Augusta’s creative life.
