Artstart is an award-winning 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Santa Rosa, CA. Established in 1999, our mission is to provide mentoring and stimulating work experience for youth aged 14-20 while creating art for our community. We believe in the transformative power of art and its ability to mold the future, promoting stronger communities.

Over the past 21 years, we have mentored over 2,000 young apprentices through our home-based training, arts integration in schools, and group training at our Arthouse in South Santa Rosa. Our programs include the Level I Apprentice Program, which invites students to explore the creative process through technical art making. The Level II Apprentice Program, requiring a portfolio for admission, empowers apprentices to engage in community participation, portfolio development, and marketing strategies.

Our Lead Artist Program, led by experienced artists who started as apprentices, provides mentoring in project planning and excellence in art-making. Additionally, our Arts Integration Program enriches holistic learning in partnership with the Sonoma County Office of Education, teachers, and students. Through our Community Arts Program, our creative installations such as murals, sculptures, painted park benches, and mosaics can be found throughout Sonoma County, beautifying our community and fostering dialogue.
