Arukah Institute of Healing is a nonprofit provider of behavioral health and wellness services serving rural communities in Illinois. Founded in 2017 by Dr. Sarah Scruggs, the organization was established to address limited access to mental health care in rural areas. Its mission is to deliver compassionate, accessible care that inspires hope, promotes healing, and supports individuals and families. Arukah currently serves Bureau, Grundy, LaSalle, Marshall, and Putnam counties.
The institute offers outpatient mental health care, including assessment, diagnosis, therapy, counseling, and psychiatry for individuals, families, and groups. Its services also include substance use treatment, crisis support and mobile response, and Pathways to Success. Wellness programs support recovery, resilience, education, and prevention, with offerings such as The Living Room, Art for Mental Wellness, SMART Recovery, WORTH teen support, and women’s health resources. Arukah is a licensed Community Mental Health Center and substance use treatment provider, as well as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic supported by federal funding.
