About ARVM
The Associação Regional de Vela da Madeira (ARVM) is the regional sailing association for Portugal’s Autonomous Region of Madeira. Established on 16 July 1990, it is a private legal entity whose purpose is to promote, regulate and guide the practice of sailing throughout the region. ARVM supports the sport through competition programmes, event information, rankings and calendars, and provides resources for sailors, clubs and the wider sailing community.
Its disciplines and classes include Optimist, ILCA, windsurfing, 420, Hansa, cruising, monotipia and J22. The association also shares information about local clubs and marinas, and offers sailing education resources, including guidance on learning to sail. Its website provides access to organisational information, statutes, regulations, forms, reports, activity and financial accounts, and multimedia content.
ARVM publicises regional events such as the Madeira ORC Cruisers Championship, alongside other regattas and sailing news. Based at the São Lázaro Nautical Centre, the association can be contacted by telephone or email for enquiries about its activities and services
