Asaf

Asaf Paris Mandoki is a researcher at the Institute of Physics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he serves as an Associate Researcher C and leads the Rydberg Quantum Optics Laboratory. His work explores the strong interactions of highly excited atoms, known as Rydberg atoms, to develop nonlinear optical media in which light can be controlled at the level of individual photons. He is also a member of the National Laboratory of Quantum Matter and Mexico’s National System of Researchers, at Level I.

The laboratory’s research focuses on quantum optics and the behavior of light interacting with Rydberg atoms, including photon correlations, single-photon absorption, and nonlinear effects. Mandoki’s published work also covers cold-atom experiments, optical control devices, Rydberg molecules, and superfluid flow in Bose–Einstein condensates.
