The Aviation Safety Advisory Group of Arizona (ASAG) is a volunteer-led, registered nonprofit working to promote safer aviation throughout Arizona. For almost half a century, it has collaborated with aviators, aviation users, the FAA Safety Team, and the Scottsdale and Las Vegas Flight Standards District Offices to share safety information and encourage sound practices.

ASAG provides educational resources for pilots and the wider aviation community, including accident, incident, deviation, and mid-air event reports; aviation links; weather-hazard guidance; and information about local airspace and airport safety. Its “From the Flight Deck” videos focus on Arizona’s non-towered airports and other topics pilots should understand before flying, complementing FAA materials about towered airports. The group also shares guidance on laser hazards and drone-related near misses, and invites reports of such events.

ASAG hosts monthly online meetings and publishes meeting minutes, safety campaigns, event dates, and resources for airport rescue and firefighting. It also recognizes contributions to aviation safety through annual awards honoring individuals and airports, including flight instructors, aviation technicians, air traffic control communicators, and airport teams.
