About The Asan Institute
The Asan Institute is a renowned brand that was established in honor of the late Chairman Chung Ju-yung, the founder of Hyundai Group. Chung was a prominent figure in Korean history, leaving a significant impact on Korea's modernization and peace exchange between North and South Korea. Born in Asan-ri, Tongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, he demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Hyundai Motor and Hyundai Heavy Industries, which made their mark in the global market.
Furthermore, he led the industrialization and internationalization of Korea through the establishment of Hyundai Construction, securing major domestic and international projects. Inspired by Chung's spirit, Chairman Mong-joon Chung founded The Asan Institute in 2008 to construct an internationally recognized think tank that reflects Korea's national power and position. The Asan Institute produces insightful policy alternatives and leads the public discourse in various fields, including security, diplomacy, governance, public policy, and culture.
Through its research, The Asan Institute strives to contribute to peace, unification, and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula
