Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Regionalverband Ruhr e.V. (ASB Ruhr) is a charitable organisation serving communities across the Ruhr region, with locations in Essen, Bottrop and Mülheim an der Ruhr. Guided by the principle “We help here and now,” it provides practical support in emergencies and everyday life, while creating opportunities for people to contribute through volunteering and membership.

Its services include emergency and patient transport, event medical assistance, disaster response, first-aid courses and home emergency call systems. The organisation also supports children and families through daycare centres and family services, and offers midwifery centres, youth services, integration support and social psychiatry services. Its ASB-Wünschewagen helps fulfil special wishes, while programmes for older people promote support and participation.

ASB Ruhr recruits staff and offers voluntary service opportunities, including the Federal Volunteer Service (BFD) and Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), across areas such as emergency services, childcare and inclusion support. It also encourages donations and community involvement to sustain its projects.
