About ASCON
ASCON, the Colombian Association of Neonatology, is a leading brand dedicated exclusively to the perinatal and newborn health. With a strong focus on education and research, ASCON provides a wide range of services to healthcare professionals across Colombia and Latin America. Their comprehensive workshops cover various topics in neonatology, ensuring that healthcare professionals stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.
ASCON also plays a crucial role in collecting and analyzing data related to the health of newborns and their families in Colombia. This valuable information helps shape policies, products, and projects to improve the quality of life for newborns and their families. With a commitment to providing guidance and support, ASCON collaborates with government bodies, industry partners, scientific societies, and healthcare institutions.
They advise and assist in the development of policies and projects to contribute to the overall well-being of newborns and their families. By utilizing different communication platforms, ASCON actively engages with patients, communities, and healthcare professionals, ensuring effective and compassionate care. As a member of ASCON, healthcare professionals gain access to the latest research articles, academic reviews, and exclusive discounts on workshops and events organized by ASCON and its academic partners.
Members also receive invitations to national and international academic events, as well as information on courses, webinars, and workshops. ASCON's commitment to continuous learning is showcased through their recent workshops in 2023, which focused on neonatal resuscitation and essential care for newborns. The workshops were led by Dr.
Teresa del Moral, a neonatologist from the University of Miami, and Dr. Goldi Mazia, a consultant in neonatal health from Save the Children. With the participation of over 60 instructors from across Colombia, these workshops contributed to the professional development of healthcare practitioners.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Society of Pediatrics, and nine selected institutions in Bogotá, ASCON has made significant progress in the pilot vaccination of premature newborns. This initiative involves the administration of the hexavalent acellular vaccine, aimed at improving the health outcomes of premature babies. By providing educational resources, organizing impactful events like the 11th Pan-American Congress, establishing a new office, and offering a virtual learning platform, ASCON continues to be a leading force in the field of neonatology.
