Asembo Skills for Hope
@asemboskillsforhope.org
We create a path to economic independence for those who never had the opportunity. In Asembo, Kenya many girls’ education is cut short because their families can’t afford the cost of high school. With no diploma and societal barriers keeping them from trade work, women are left without ways to make a living. Our program is an avenue for women to gain in-demand skills, secure employment, and earn a transformative income. Our goal is for women to prosper, and ultimately enable their children to as well. By empowering women and their families, we hope to break the cycle of generational poverty.

About Asembo Skills for Hope
Asembo Skills for Hope is a brand dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty in Asembo, a fishing community on the shores of Lake Victoria. Our mission is to empower women with the skills needed to thrive and provide for themselves and their children. Founded by Grace Ongong'a and Josephine Apiyo, who themselves overcame obstacles to gain an education, our organization is driven by their passion to give back to their hometown.
We offer a range of programs aimed at equipping women with skills for economic independence, including sewing skills training and wellbeing support. Our dedicated team, led by Executive Director Grace Ongong'a and Program Manager Josephine Apiyo, works tirelessly to ensure the success of our initiatives. Together with our board and partners, we strive to create a thriving community where every woman has agency over her life.
