The African Scholars Fund (ASF) is a unique and invaluable organization that has been dedicated to supporting learners in South Africa's education system since the late 1960s. During the era of apartheid, black schooling was severely affected, and volunteers banded together to provide educational resources and support in private homes. Today, ASF works with over 290 primary schools and financially assists learners in 63 high schools, many of which lack sufficient resources.

The fund not only provides bursaries to alleviate financial pressure on families, but also offers handwritten communication, life skills sessions, career guidance, computer literacy programs, and assistance with tertiary funding applications. ASF's holistic approach aims to empower learners and guide them towards a brighter future. Although the organization primarily focuses on learners from marginalized communities, no racial distinction is made when awarding bursaries.
