ASFAVAL is the Association of Families of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Valdeorras, a nonprofit organization serving people with intellectual disabilities and their families in the Valdeorras area. For more than 30 years, it has worked to improve quality of life by supporting personal, social and vocational development, while promoting dignity, autonomy, inclusion and wellbeing. The association manages a range of services tailored to individual needs.
Its Occupational Centre offers workshops in social skills, recycling, computer skills, gardening, sewing and beadwork. The Day Centre provides cognitive and sensory stimulation, support with activities of daily living, physiotherapy and literacy activities. ASFAVAL also operates a Therapeutic-Occupational Residence, offering a shared living environment and personalized support for people with disabilities.
Declared a public-benefit organization in 2005, ASFAVAL is a member of FADEMGA Plena Inclusión Galicia and works collaboratively toward a fairer, more inclusive society. It welcomes people who wish to volunteer, become members or otherwise support its work, and provides contact options for those seeking information about its services
