ASHAM

The American Saddlebred Horse Association of Michigan (ASHAM) is a regional charter club of the American Saddlebred Horse Association, dedicated to promoting the breed and supporting Michigan’s equestrian community. Its mission includes encouraging young people’s interest in American Saddlebreds, promoting amateur horsemanship and competition, and supporting responsible breeding and training. The association also works with other organizations and individuals to advance equestrian activities and improve the breed.

ASHAM organizes a multi-breed charity horse show, giving amateur athletes opportunities to participate and compete while helping raise funds for local charities. The event also supports Michigan’s horse industry and brings visitors to local businesses, including restaurants. Members can take part in show and academy divisions, with year-end high-point awards recognizing achievement at Michigan horse shows that offer Saddlebred classes. These awards are presented at the association’s annual banquet.

ASHAM also publishes the annual Midwest Show Horse Directory, which promotes amateur competitors and shares information about the horse industry in Michigan and the Midwest.
