The Asian Confluence is a Shillong-based institution that works to strengthen understanding and cooperation across Eastern South Asia, placing the region within the wider Indo-Pacific and East Asian context. Its guiding idea is to build an inclusive “Third Space” where people and institutions can meet, exchange perspectives, and develop shared approaches to regional challenges. The organisation convenes Track 1.
5 and Track 2 dialogues, seminars, workshops, webinars, youth exchanges, and public events, and supports research and discussion through its Centre for Bay of Bengal Studies, ASCON Online, and NADI initiative. Its work spans connectivity and trade, climate and ecology, sustainable development, governance, culture, tourism, and people-to-people relations. The Asian Confluence also publishes research reports, monographs, event reports, briefs, commentaries, concept notes, and newsletters, and shares video and photographic coverage of its activities.
Through programmes including the Young Scholars Network and Kizuna, it engages scholars, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and communities, fostering dialogue among India’s Northeast and its regional neighbours, including Japan and countries around the Bay of Bengal
