ASOIF, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations, serves as a unifying force, promoting and supporting the Summer Olympic IFs. The organization strives to preserve the autonomy of these federations while coordinating their common interests and goals. By acting as an added value provider, ASOIF enhances the member IFs' capabilities and contributes to the Olympic Movement as a whole.

ASOIF plays a crucial role by representing and serving the Summer Olympic IFs with utmost competence and professionalism. They address issues of mutual concern in the Summer Olympic Games, Summer Youth Olympic Games, and the Olympic Movement. Additionally, ASOIF takes up any other matter deemed necessary by the IFs.

The International Federations (IFs) themselves bear the responsibility of managing and monitoring various sports disciplines worldwide. They organize events during the Olympic Games, oversee the development of athletes, and ensure fair play. ASOIF was founded on May 30, 1983, with 21 IFs, and it has since grown to include 31 Full Member IFs and two Associate Member IFs.

ASOIF's executive body, known as the Council, consists of eight leaders from Summer Olympic IFs and the ASOIF Executive Director. Their administration, headed by the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, is based in Lausanne. Together, they work towards the shared interests of the Olympic Movement and facilitate a joint meeting with the International Olympic Committee and the International Federations
