ASOTIPRA, the Asociación de Tiro Práctico, is a Costa Rican sports association dedicated to practical shooting. It is endorsed by the Costa Rican Institute of Sport and Recreation (ICODER) and registered with the General Directorate of Armament. The association organizes activities in IPSC and IDPA, offering opportunities for both newcomers and experienced competitors to develop their shooting skills in structured sporting disciplines.
ASOTIPRA publishes calendars for training sessions and competitions, hosts events such as the ASOTIPRA Cup, and offers introductory courses on sport shooting. Members receive access to member-priced events and training, private Facebook and WhatsApp groups, and an identification card that provides access to discounts at affiliated businesses. Membership also includes special rates at the Polígono de Tiro 38 Especial and Polígono CDC, a stated discount with sponsor EPM, and assistance with permits for competing abroad. Annual membership costs ₡65,000, or the equivalent in US dollars, and is intended for shooters whose equipment is properly registered under the law and who understand safe firearm handling.
