ASPIRE Aotearoa is a research collaboration bringing together tobacco researchers and health-focused providers across Aotearoa New Zealand. Its work supports the goal of a tobacco-free Aotearoa through research, information sharing and engagement with current tobacco-control issues. The organisation’s research spans smoking cessation, tobacco product regulation, adolescent lifestyles and the effects of emerging technologies on identity and behaviour. Current projects include research into support strategies for people who use roll-your-own tobacco, the INSPIRED Te Ara Auahi Kore project, and the Adolescent Friendships & Lifestyles Study.

ASPIRE Aotearoa shares its findings through journal publications, reports and other research outputs, alongside news, events and topical coverage. Its website also provides resources on subjects such as smokefree policy, oral nicotine products, snus and electronic nicotine delivery systems. Partner organisations include the Cancer Society of New Zealand, Hāpai te Hauora, the Institute of Environmental Science and Research, Kōkiri Marae, and several New Zealand universities. By connecting researchers and providers, ASPIRE Aotearoa contributes evidence and discussion to tobacco control and the pursuit of a tobacco-free future.
