Aspiring Athletics

Aspiring Athletics Club is a community athletics club based in Wānaka, New Zealand, welcoming athletes aged six and older. It offers summer-season programmes for people who want to develop skills, enjoy being active, make friends, or pursue competition. Athletes can register as social or competitive members, with age grades based on their age at 31 December of the relevant season.

The club provides coaching across distance running, sprints, high jump, and long jump. Its programmes include Get Set Go and Run Jump Throw, alongside competitive training for athletes aged 15 and over. Sessions cater to a range of abilities, from beginners to experienced competitors, in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Club nights are held at local venues in Wānaka, and the club also hosts events such as the annual Wānaka Country Meet, welcoming both competitive and social athletes. Run by volunteers and supported by a dedicated committee, Aspiring Athletics Club brings athletes and families together through sport. It also invites community members to get involved as coaches.
