ASS für Eltern

Autismus-Spektrum-Selbsthilfe is a community-led support group founded in January 2024 for people affected by autism and their families in Wilhelmshaven, Friesland and nearby areas. It offers a welcoming space to share experiences, concerns and practical questions about autism, including early childhood autism and Asperger’s. Participation is open to autistic people, parents, relatives, friends, professionals and anyone interested; a formal diagnosis is not required.

The group organizes regular in-person meetings in Wilhelmshaven and Friesland, as well as gatherings in Nordenham/Einswarden. Its Autismus-Stammtisch provides an informal setting for conversation and connection, while talks and dialogue events introduce autism-related topics and encourage discussion. The organization also takes part in regional information events and professional forums focused on neurodiversity.

In cooperation with the ASB neighborhood center “Hol Über,” it is launching a monthly Neurodivergent Café in Wilhelmshaven as an open, supportive place to meet and exchange ideas. Through its meetings, events and local network, Autismus-Spektrum-Selbsthilfe helps people find understanding, information and contact with others facing similar experiences.
