Assistenz humana

Assistenz humana is a personal assistance service based in Erkelenz, in the Heinsberg district of Germany, serving clients in the Mönchengladbach area and across North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded and led by Rosaly Mencia-Reynoso, the organisation draws on her experience as an assistant and her university studies in social work and social pedagogy. It supports people with physical disabilities in managing everyday life and pursuing greater independence.

Clients guide the service: each person determines the type and extent of assistance they need, while staff provide support in chosen areas of life. Assistenz humana describes its approach as clients being “the head” and assistants their “arms and legs.” Assistance is planned collaboratively with clients and, where appropriate, people close to them, then adapted as needs and circumstances change. The organisation aims to provide high-quality, individualised support that respects personal needs and habits and promotes self-determination and inclusion.
