Association KERMIT is a nature and environmental education organisation based on the southern Larzac in France. It helps families, school groups and other organised groups discover the area’s natural environments, landscapes and local wildlife through activities in Hérault and neighbouring departments, including southern Aveyron. Its programme includes guided nature walks in Lodévois-Larzac and events that introduce visitors to the region’s biodiversity.
KERMIT also highlights the “Chemins des arbres” near La Vacquerie and Saint-Maurice-Navacelles: three walking loops that showcase trees valued by local residents. Visitors can explore wildlife through four observation sites located in areas designated Natura 2000 and/or recognised as Grand Site de France. The association’s work also includes nature inventories, field activities and research.
It shares information about upcoming events through its online agenda and KERMIT Gazettes, which readers can subscribe to. Through these educational and outdoor experiences, KERMIT invites people to learn about and connect with the distinctive natural heritage of the Larzac and surrounding areas
