ODV Il Piccolo Principe Domenico Generoso is an Italian volunteer organization founded in April 2018 by Emilia and Giuseppe, parents of Domenico, with support from friends. Inspired by The Little Prince, the association works to support children and adolescents facing serious illnesses, particularly childhood cancer, and the families who accompany them. Its approach recognizes that illness affects the whole household and that children deserve to retain their rights and opportunities, while parents should be welcomed, heard, and supported.
The organization provides direct and indirect assistance in response to the needs of young patients and their parents. It also offers support and collaboration to organizations involved in children’s care, and promotes a culture of welcome and volunteering within public facilities. Its activities include support and entertainment for children with serious conditions who spend extended periods in hospital, advocacy for their rights, and efforts to ensure families from different areas and circumstances have equal access to help.
