l’associazione Habilia

Habilia ETS is a Florence-based association led by people with motor disabilities and dedicated to supporting others with similar needs. It focuses particularly on people with stable spinal cord injuries, including paraplegia and tetraplegia, as well as individuals with comparable disabling conditions. The association works to improve quality of life, protect and advance the rights of people with disabilities, encourage social inclusion, and help them access specialist healthcare and rehabilitation services.

Habilia’s activities are centred in the Florence area, with links to Villa il Sorriso rehabilitation centre and the Florence Spinal Unit, while its work extends beyond the local community. Rather than offering commercial products, the association promotes practical and social support: functional rehabilitation, independent living and assistive technology, peer counselling, accessible transport, sports, cultural and recreational activities, and opportunities for training and information. It also shares updates about medical research and technological developments in aids for daily living, and encourages collaboration among healthcare providers, institutions, organisations and citizens.
