ASTERICS is a collaborative initiative designed to address the complex challenges in multi-messenger astronomy, bringing together an interdisciplinary team of researchers, scientists, engineers, and specialists in hardware and software. Spanning four years, the project focuses on developing cutting-edge instruments that tackle the processing, storage, and transfer of significant data volumes generated by astronomical observations.

By encouraging cooperation among various fields, ASTERICS aims to enhance the understanding of cosmic events through simultaneous observations across different wavelengths and messengers. Key research infrastructures associated with ASTERICS include the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) for radio waves, the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) for gamma rays, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) for visible light, and the Km3 Neutrino Telescope (KM3NeT) for neutrinos. Additionally, the project leverages existing facilities such as the Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) and the Very Large Telescope (VLT) to drive innovative solutions that benefit both current and future research in astronomy and astrophysics, ensuring a richer understanding of our universe.
