About Aster Privacy
Aster Mail is a privacy-focused email service designed for people who want a more secure alternative to conventional inboxes. It provides end-to-end encrypted email, with messages encrypted on the user’s device and encryption keys kept out of Aster’s hands. Communications between Aster accounts also benefit from post-quantum protection. The service is hosted in Germany under GDPR, offers 10 GB of free storage, and states that it does not display ads or scan mail.
Aster Mail includes a private inbox with search, folders, labels, contacts, and email aliases that can help users organize messages or protect their primary address. Users can access their inbox through web, desktop, and mobile apps, connect desktop mail programs using Aster Bridge for IMAP and SMTP, or reach the service over the Tor network. The company also provides cryptography information, source code, security resources, help guides, and product updates. Aster Mail is free to start, with paid plans and additional storage available. Its stated funding model is based on users rather than advertising.
