Asteroit Kâşifi

Asteroit Kâşifi is an independent organization established in 2017, dedicated to engaging students and astronomy enthusiasts in asteroid discovery. Located in Turkey, it operates as part of the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), an initiative supported by NASA that brings together over 20 international institutions. The organization seeks to empower amateur astronomers to explore the cosmos by participating in national asteroid discovery campaigns.

Participants can register for various campaigns, which typically run for a month and begin during the last quarter of the moon cycle. During these campaigns, they receive data collected from the 1.8-meter PAN-STARRS telescope and use Astrometrica software to analyze images and identify moving celestial objects. Findings are compiled into reports submitted to the Minor Planet Center, facilitating the discovery process.
