About ASTI
ASTI, the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland, is Ireland's leading second level teachers union. With a membership of 18,500 teachers, ASTI represents professionals in community schools, community colleges, comprehensive schools, and voluntary secondary schools – educating 80% of all second-level students. ASTI serves as both a professional association advocating for the concerns and interests of teachers, and a registered trade union working to improve teachers' pay and employment conditions.
Their diverse membership includes class teachers, school principals, deputy-principals, guidance counsellors, and resource teachers, among others. ASTI's mission is to promote and protect second-level education while uniting and organizing all second-level teachers. They are affiliated with major organizations such as the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, Education International, and the European Trade Union Committee for Education.
