Astrofili Spezzini

Associazione Astrofili Spezzini (A.A.S.) is a cultural and social-promotion association based in La Spezia, Italy, dedicated to astronomy and Earth sciences. Its work brings together public education, practical observing and scientific research, welcoming both experienced enthusiasts and people discovering the night sky for the first time. The association offers astronomy courses, hands-on telescope training and activities for children, as well as technical assistance with different types of telescopes. Public observing evenings, cultural tourism and inclusive outreach help make astronomy accessible to a broad audience.

A.A.S. operates several astronomical observatories, including the Monte Viseggi Observatory, and provides access to telescopes, a weather station, a library and media collection, and astronomy publications. Its research activities include astrometry, exoplanet transits, cometary photometry, spectroscopy and studies of meteors. Members also pursue astrophotography, solar observation, telescope construction and software development. Through events, educational resources, collaborations and initiatives addressing light pollution, the association supports learning, community participation and the appreciation of the universe.
