ATACNJ

The Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center (ATAC), part of Disability Rights New Jersey, is the state’s federally funded assistive technology project, operating through a subcontract with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Its mission is to help people with disabilities across New Jersey overcome systemic barriers and gain access to assistive technology (AT) that supports participation in daily life, education, and community settings.

ATAC connects residents with practical resources and services to help them identify and use appropriate technology. These include hands-on device demonstrations, a loan program that lets people try devices before deciding whether to buy, and equipment reuse through a partnership with Goodwill Home Medical Equipment. The center also offers advocacy and legal representation, information and referral, training and technical assistance, and resources on accessibility, transition planning, and technology for community living. Its learning materials, webinars, events, and assistive technology community of practice help individuals, families, educators, and professionals build knowledge and confidence.
