Atelier Burdigala

Atelier Burdigala is a conservation-restoration laboratory founded in Bordeaux in 2021 by Tiffanie Giraud, who holds master’s degrees in archaeology and cultural heritage conservation-restoration. Based in Bordeaux, the studio works with museums, public and private institutions, archaeology professionals, and private collectors across France and the overseas territories. It is authorised to work with collections from Museums of France and follows the profession’s ethical standards.

The atelier treats archaeological objects made of metal, ceramic, glass, and dry organic materials, as well as historic metal objects and works of art. Its services include collection assessments, condition reports, optical examinations, scientific documentation, chemical and structural stabilisation, corrosion treatment, cleaning, restoration, and preparation of objects for study or display. The team also provides preventive conservation, including tailored storage and packing, handling guidance, and protection during transport.

Work is carried out in the laboratory, at archaeological sites, and in museum storage areas. Each intervention is tailored to the object and its context, with an emphasis on preserving its integrity, stability, and informational value.
