Ateneo Santa Cecilia is a cultural association established in 1952, dedicated to promoting culture while preserving local traditions. Located in Marín, Pontevedra, it serves as a vibrant community hub for various cultural activities, events, and celebrations. The association hosts annual traditions, including the Concurso de Maios, recognized for its creative displays, and the Danza de Espadas de San Miguel, which has also been acknowledged as a festival of tourist interest in Galicia. Unique events like the Enterro da Sardiña highlight the association’s commitment to cultural richness, featuring the distinctive celebration that involves the symbolic burial of a real sardine.

With a legacy spanning over seven decades, Ateneo Santa Cecilia has played a crucial role in the cultural landscape, providing a platform for intellectuals, artists, and musicians to share their works and ideas with the public.
