The Athletes' PT

Athletes’ Therapist is a physical therapy and performance training practice in Carlsbad, California, focused on helping athletes and active people move from rehabilitation toward full performance. Its holistic approach considers how local dysfunction can affect movement throughout the body, sport, and everyday life. The practice serves people recovering from injuries or surgery, as well as those seeking preventative care, orthopedic intervention, or a return to sport.

Care begins with functional movement screening and assessment to identify fundamental movement limitations. Treatment options include manual therapy techniques such as myofascial release, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, stretching, and joint mobilizations. Corrective exercise progressions aim to restore foundational mobility and stability, while return-to-sport rehabilitation gradually integrates greater load, speed, and complexity.

Athletes’ Therapist is led by Joe Walker, a physical therapist and board-certified sports specialist with experience treating professional, Olympic, collegiate, high school, and amateur athletes, as well as everyday clients. The clinic offers personalized appointments Monday through Friday, with weekend appointments available by arrangement.
