Athletics Whangarei

Athletics Whangārei is a friendly, inclusive athletics and running club based at Park Avenue in Kensington, Whangārei. It welcomes people of all ages, abilities and levels of experience, from juniors and developing athletes to seniors, masters and recreational runners. The club offers activities across two seasonal programmes: winter harriers, cross-country and road running from April to September, and track and field from October to March.

Members can take part in weekly club nights, competitions, social activities and events, with coaching available during the athletics season. A Development Squad for athletes aged 12 and over builds speed, strength, coordination, movement skills and injury-prevention habits. The club also hosts events such as a five-week series of one-mile track races and provides access to its all-weather track for training and competition.

Newcomers can attend two free club visits before joining. Athletics Whangārei’s stadium facilities, including the track, lounge, kitchen and conference area, are also available to book for sporting and community events
