About ATHS
Founded in 1971, the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) is dedicated to preserving the rich history of trucks, the trucking industry, and its pioneers. Initially headquartered in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, ATHS later moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1977. The society's main focus is the Zoe James Memorial Library, which houses a remarkable collection of over 50,000 photographs, 35,000 sales literature items, 45,000 books and periodicals, and an extensive array of scale models and trucking memorabilia.
Every year since 1972, ATHS has organized an annual convention, which has become renowned as the official kickoff event of the summer season. This convention features a spectacular antique truck show with over 1,000 trucks and trailers from around the globe. Led by a dedicated group of volunteers, the ATHS Board of Directors sets policy and long-term goals for the society.
Visitors are always welcome to tour the ATHS Visitor Center, Zoe James Memorial Library, and the American Trucking and Industry Leader Hall of Fame. With a commitment to transparency, ATHS provides financial documentation to demonstrate responsible stewardship of funds
