About Interreg Atlantic Area
Atlantic Area is a brand that encompasses the Interreg Atlantic Area 2014-2020 and Interreg Atlantic Area 2021-2027 funding programmes. These programmes promote transnational cooperation among 36 Atlantic regions in five European countries. With a budget of €185M, including €140M from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the programmes support cooperation projects in various fields such as Innovation & Competitiveness, Resource Efficiency, Territorial Risks Management, Biodiversity, and Natural & Cultural Assets.
The new Interreg Atlantic Area 2021-2027 Programme was approved by the European Commission in September 2022 and aims to continue supporting innovative initiatives in the Atlantic regions. Through joint actions, exchange of good practices, and contribution to public policies, the programmes address common challenges and contribute to the growth of the Atlantic area.
