Atlas Scholars

Atlas Scholars is a Houston-area 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps high-potential high-school students turn ambition into opportunity. Since 2013, it has served more than 145 Scholars, including a recent cohort in which 63% are first-generation college students. Its program combines three paid summers of professional development with year-round mentorship, college preparation, scholarships, and a lasting alumni network.

Starting after 10th grade, Scholars take part in project-based work in professional environments, along with workplace visits and sessions with industry speakers. They receive guidance from program staff, college students, and working professionals, with support continuing through college and beyond. College services include application preparation and performance-based scholarships; the alumni program fosters ongoing connection and a culture of paying it forward. Atlas Scholars reports awarding $850,000 in scholarships to date.

The organization works with individual and institutional supporters across fields including energy, finance, medicine, law, government, and education. Supporters can mentor students, host site visits, offer career exposure, or hire graduates.
