About ATMEC
ATMEC, the Aow Thai Marine Ecology Center, is a marine science-focused initiative by Love Wildlife Foundation. Their mission is to provide education in marine biology and ecology to students of all ages. In collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, ATMEC conducts original research and conservation projects in the Gulf of Thailand.
Located at Koh Mun Nai, Rayong, their field station offers exclusive access for students and researchers to stay on the island, which is closed to the public outside of visiting hours. The facilities on the island run off solar energy, aligning with their sustainable resource use focus. ATMEC's research projects include studying coral spawning, new marine invertebrate species, threats to coral reefs, and more.
Their education efforts combine classroom theory with practical activities in the sea and lab, and they offer SCUBA training and internships for those interested in pursuing a career in marine science or conservation. Donations and equipment support are also welcomed to improve their program
