AtomJump is an innovative brand that offers a wide range of messaging tools and services. Founded in 2011, AtomJump initially started as a proximity and browser-based chat experiment called 'ssshout'. Although it garnered some attention, it didn't gain widespread popularity.

However, the technology behind it proved interesting and was relaunched in 2014 as a customer feedback tool for websites. Recognizing the need for improvement, AtomJump was rebranded as an open-source browser messaging product in 2015/2016, aiming to address the communication imbalance created by large technology monopolies. In 2016, AtomJump released a mobile app for iOS and Android alongside the browser tool.

The brand became a New Zealand Limited Company, based in Christchurch but with a global reach. While AtomJump's main focus is medical imaging product MedImage, the development and publication of the messaging tool were transferred to the non-profit AtomJump Foundation in 2019. Now, the AtomJump Foundation handles all aspects of hosting, development, and publication for the messaging tool, reflecting its commitment to open-source principles
