ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment) is a non-profit organization dedicated to generating interdisciplinary knowledge for environmental conservation and sustainable development. With a focus on integrating research with policy and action, ATREE aims to address critical environmental problems. ATREE's organizational structure is designed to promote creative interdisciplinary approaches.

It consists of two research centers: the S M Sehgal Foundation - Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation and the Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies - Centre for Environment and Development. These centers, along with the Academy of Conservation Science and Sustainability Studies, form the backbone of ATREE's research efforts. ATREE's research encompasses various thematic areas such as biodiversity and conservation, climate change mitigation and development, land and water resources, forests and governance, and ecosystem services and human well-being.
