Attendance Works is a non-profit initiative that aims to promote equal opportunities to learn and advance student success by reducing chronic absence. With our mission being ensuring that students of all backgrounds and circumstances attend school regularly, engage in learning, and thrive, we recognize the attendance crisis our country is currently facing. Before the pandemic, eight million students were already chronically absent, and that number has more than doubled.

This has led to adverse social, emotional, and academic impacts on the most disadvantaged students and families, exacerbating educational inequities. As a response, we collaborate with schools, districts, states, communities, and organizations to address chronic absence using a positive, problem-solving approach. Our work includes building awareness, encouraging innovative practices, facilitating peer learning, and advancing policies at the local, state, and federal levels.

We promote data-driven strategies, inclusive partnership with students and families, examining biases and systemic inequities, and developing strategic partnerships to overcome barriers and discrimination. Join us in our mission to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to succeed
