About Stiftelsen Alternativ til Vold
Stiftelsen Alternativ til Vold (ATV) is a leading treatment and competence center for violence, with a particular focus on violence in close relationships. Founded in 1987 as the first treatment facility in Europe, ATV aims to increase safety and security within families through their work against violence. They provide treatment for all family members affected by violence, including both perpetrators and victims, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or disability.
ATV helps individuals who perpetrate violence to stop using it, enabling them to become secure and nurturing partners and parents. They also assist those who have experienced violence, supporting them in attaining a life free from violence and its consequences. Committed to being a leading authority on family violence and treatment, ATV operates through three main areas: treatment, knowledge development, and knowledge dissemination.
