About Insight Meditation Center
Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA is a community-based, urban refuge for the teachings and practice of insight meditation, also known as mindfulness or vipassana meditation. Led by Gil Fronsdal and various guest speakers, the center offers a wealth of Dharma talks that illuminate different aspects of the Buddha's teachings. These talks aim to guide individuals towards the end of suffering and the attainment of freedom.
In addition to the Insight Meditation Center, there are other centers under the parent organization, including the Insight Retreat Center. Located just outside Santa Cruz, CA, the Insight Retreat Center offers mostly silent meditation retreats throughout the year, focusing on insight meditation and the liberation teachings of the Buddha. The center also offers online retreats using Zoom, following a similar format to their residential retreats.
Furthermore, Insight Meditation Center supports the study and application of Buddhist teachings through the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies. This center promotes a balanced approach of scholarly inquiry, personal practice, and engagement with the world. All these offerings are made possible through the generosity of many volunteers who contribute their time and effort to record, edit, transcribe, and maintain the talks.
The talks are freely available to download or listen to, and individuals can support this valuable service by making tax-deductible donations
