Aue-Säätiö is a private, open and politically independent foundation dedicated to strengthening knowledge of German-speaking Europe in Finland. It promotes cultural and scientific cooperation between Finland and German-speaking European countries, and encourages exchange between science and the arts. Its work spans grants, research, culture, public dialogue and German-language education.
The foundation awards grants each year to support Finnish-German cultural exchange and collaboration, and backs joint research projects across different fields. It also fosters intercultural understanding and discussion of social and cultural policy issues. To encourage the study and teaching of German in Finland, Aue-Säätiö develops initiatives and partnerships.
Its activities include public events, publications, news and blog content, alongside opportunities to learn more about German-speaking Europe. Events range from talks and language-focused activities to German-language film screenings for upper-secondary students, organised with partners such as Goethe-Institut Finnland. Through these programmes, Aue-Säätiö connects people and institutions in Finland with the cultures, ideas and research of German-speaking Europe, while supporting lasting exchange and mutual understanding
